Michael Jackson is no more. Michael Jackson is dead. Michael Jackson is a thing of the past. 4 decades of Glory came to a sudden halt in the end of June 2009. That’s the way God functions.
When I searched Michael Jackson on Google a search engine, I got 135,000,000 entries of him; a clear indication that this man was a legend, this man was immortal, but it proved otherwise. His real name was Michael Joseph Jackson. He was born on August 29 1958 in Indiana and died on June 25, 2009 in California. Clearly his journey has been much beautiful and eventful than anyone else in his contemporaries. A man, who breathed diamonds, ate glory and lived a golden life. Whether his life has truly been fruitful could be the topic of a debate but the fact is that he did spend his life like a king and still left the world thirsty.
‘You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life’, this could well have been the motto of Michael Jackson’s life. He rose from the ground to the skies. Born to a steel worker, he became an icon. Professionally he did not fail but in his personal life he was someone in desperate need of love and care and made many a mistake. A child who got mercilessly beaten by his father and was so scared of him that he often puked as he saw him, a person who became a star in his teenage and got world’s biggest luxuries at the push of a button still owed a huge debt when he died. A man, who married twice but could not boast of marital happiness even till the last stages of his life, a man who had three children and claimed to have loved them dearly, was accused of ugly accusations of child abuse and molestation. Yes, Michael was a lonely man.
Jackson’s 1982 Album Thriller still remains World’s bestselling album of all time and solo albums Off the Wall, Bad, Dangerous and History are among best selling records.
Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his Heal the world Foundation, charity singles and support of 39 charities. The New York Times that said Jackson was a one-man rescue team for the music business. Such was the magic of one mortal called MJ.
Michael Jackson’s personal life at the same time was marred by innumerable scars. He was married twice and divorced. Reports say that he was gay and still got married. He was slapped by charges of child abuse and was called a pedophile. His Neverland Ranch was searched including his own physical strip down. On January 1, 1994, Jackson settled a child abuse court case in a civil lawsuit for $22 million. Jackson started taking Xanax, a drug for panic attacks and stress stemming from the allegations made against him of child abuse. By the fall of 1993, Jackson was addicted to the drugs
MJ’s marital life has been contradictions of sorts too. He married dermatologist Deborah Jeanne Rowe who bore him two children. The couple divorced later with Rowe giving full custody of the children to Jackson. In 1994 he married singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presly, the daughter of Elvis Presley. They divorced too.
One would love to exchange a life with Michael Jackson but one does not know how lonely that life would be. 'I'm better off dead. I'm done’ was Michael Jackson's fateful prediction just a week before his death. Michael Jackson’s friend, Uri Geller, told Sky News - I was in a darkened hotel room with Michael Jackson and I asked him ‘Michael are you a lonely man?’ he said with a very long pause, “Yes Uri, I am an extremely lonely man”.
Millions of dollars, worldwide fan following, expensive copyrights; and the ability to take on the world could not give Michael Jackson a life worth living again.
Kabhi kabhi khuda banne ki koshish nahin karni chahiye
Insaan baney rehne mein sukoon hai
Kyunki zameen kha chuki hain aasman kaise kaise
